Welcome To Princeton Aikikai

Established since 2002

Please note: at this time, the dojo is closed until further notice.

Masashi Numata Sensei passed away peacefully on May 3, 2023. Rest in Peace, Sensei.

The Princeton Aikikai community has started a GoFundMe campaign to help Sensei’s family with appropriate services and arrangements: https://www.gofundme.com/f/for-sensei-musashi-numata-7th-dan .

The Princeton Aikikai doors opened in February of 2002, in Princeton, NJ, under the leadership of Mr. Numata, coming directly from Japan. Masashi Numata Sensei, native to Japan, moved to the USA with his family in 2001. With years of Aikido background, he brings a cultural and traditional sense to The Art of Aikido. Marie Mockers Numata Sensei, with years of Aikido training in Japan and teaching experience brings a multicultural understanding of Aikido practice.

Children, teens and adult classes are offered. We have a unique combination of all ages and belt levels working out on the mat, helping each other to better understand how to practice Aikido. The Art of Aikido teaches to respect life and to connect to our surroundings, in addition to giving self-defense skills. To injure or harm your training partner defeats the purpose of Aikido; therefore, we train with care.
